Marantz Home Theater Receivers SR 7001

What exactly is a home theater receiver? A home theater receiver is the audio visual equipment that interprets information and then sends them out to your screen and speakers, so you can't really live without it and an actual theater experience wouldn't exist.

Consider this top-notched (BRAND NEW) product! I was surfing around on eBay and found that the next price was around $1,200 - nearly the same!

Home theater receivers such as the Marantz SR 7001 should be in every home theater.

Sound is more affected than, say, video by the receiver. Any DVD that has been optimized for Dolby 5.1 surround sound will have audio signals properly amplified: distribution to proper speakers will be complete. Bass sounds get sent to the subwoofer, and other background noises are sent to rear speakers. Any actor's speech is heard from the front. A high quality home theater receiver with matching speaker sets will give you a better feel for your movie.

A home theater receiver ranges between $250 to $2500 for the really top quality. If you are on a strict budget, just know that a $500 product and a $800 doesn't quite make for much of a difference. But a higher quality one has distinct difference to the ear, and you'd need to get one to know one!

Wattage is an indication of how loud the sound can go. 400 - 500 watts is generally okay for any home theater environment. If you have a really large home (and a budget to boot) I'd advise a 1000 watt machine.
